Liwa



Liwa oasis is approximately three hours' drive from Abu Dhabi. It one of the largest oases in the Arabian Peninsula and is also the entry point to the famous Rub Al Khali, Abu Dhabi. The oasis is home to the Bedouin ancestors of Abu Dhabi's ruling family.

Liwa features freshwater pools and date plantations. The desert in Liwa has remained unchanged for centuries and still retains its mountainous red dunes.

Liwa boasts is being the base camp of the famous UAE Desert Challenge. This makes Liwa a popular tourist destination in Abu Dhabi. The popularity of Liwa attracts hundreds of tourists to Abu Dhabi.


The high sand dunes of Liwa are perfect for sand skiing in Abu Dhabi. Liwa is an excellent place for desert safaris. You will barely see any habitation in Liwa - occasional Bedouin camps nestled in the dunes is the only indication of habitation here.
