Citizens of AGCC (Arab Gulf Cooperation Council) countries do not require a visa for entry into the UAE. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia are member states of AGCC. AGCC expatriate residents can get a renewable 30-day visit visa upon their arrival in the UAE.
The UAE has given visa-related privileges to certain countries, namely France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Cyprus, Finland, Malta, Spain, Monaco, Vatican City, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Residents and citizens of these countries can get a free visa on arrival. Valid for 60 days, this visa can be renewed for an additional 30 days on the payment of a minimal fee. If you are a citizen of any other country, not listed above, then you need to apply for the UAE Tourist Visa. Transit visas are also issued in Abu Dhabi. These are meant for travelers who have valid tickets for onward flights from the city's airports. This visa is generally issued free of cost and is valid for 96 hours.
