Jordan Location

Jordan is located on geographically coordinated of 31°00'N to 36°00'E. Jordan is bordered by the Syria from the South, Iraq from the West, Saudi Arabia from the northwest and Israel from the East. There is 26 km coastal line in the extreme south else whole Jordan is landlocked. The Southern coastline is gateways to Red Sea through Gulf of Aqaba. Jordan is covering around 89,213 kmē world area out of which 88,884 kmē land and 329 kmē is water. Jordan has 1619 km land Boundaries with the 26 km coast line. The highest point of Jordan is Dead Sea which is 1854 m height as well Lowest Point Dead Sea 408 m. Jordan have 700 sq km Irrigated land.

Jordan shares much of its history with Israel , Since both occupied the area known historically Palestine. Much of the Present day eastern Jordan was incorporated into Israel under the King David and Solomon C 1000AC. It fell to the Seleucids in 330 bc and to Muslim Arabs in the 17th century AD. The crudaders, extended the Kingdom of Jerusalem east of the Jordan river in 1099. Jordan submitted to Ottoman Turkish rule during the 16th century. In 1920 the area comprising Jordan was established within the British mandate of Palestine. Transjordan became an independent state in 1927, although the British mandate did not end until 1948.

After hostilities with the new state of Israel ceased in 1949.Jordan annexed the west bank of the Jordan River, administering the territory until Israel gained control of it in the Six day war of 1967. In 1970-71 Jordan was wracked by fighting between the government and guerillas of the Palestine Liberation Organization, A struggle that ended in the expulsion of the PLO from Jordan. In 1988 King Hussein renounced all Jordanian claims to the west Bank in the favor of PLO. In 1994Jordan and Israel signed a full peace agreement. Upon the death of King Hussein in 1999, His son Abdullah took over the Throne.
